“Detroit Portraits” Update
I’ve been very busy with commercial, editorial and video work the last month or so, but I did manage to shoot for 3 days in Detroit for my “Detroit Portraits” project earlier this week. I scurried all over the city and came away with some portraits I’m really excited about and met many incredible Detroiters.
I’ve also had some of the most thought provoking conversations before and after our portrait sessions about life, race, politics, ambition, entrepreneurship, adversity, hopes, fears, drive, becoming a better person, becoming a better city, becoming a better Michigan, etc. The new relationships I’m fortunate to establish via this project are a wonderful bonus. I spend a lot more time listening, learning and talking than actually photographing.
Nearly every person I photograph refers me to 2-3 potential new subjects to shoot…Detroiters definitely share the love and are encouraged by each other’s successes.
I’ll be sharing more photos with you very soon…I’m steadily editing through the most recent shoots as time allows.
